Team Parents

All teams are required to have a designated Team Parent.

If that Team Parent is you, we are glad you're here! And THANK YOU!

First step, complete your background check AND your Livescan Fingerprints! Once cleared, you'll get a wristband from our Safety Officer before Opening Day.

Generally speaking, the Team Parent's duties and responsibilities are to do the administrative tasks for the team which will allow the Coach to concentrate on coaching the players and team development. The fewer extra tasks a coach has to take on, the more successful season your team will have!

Below are some typical Team Parent duties. Please delegate some of these duties to other parents (or older siblings) on your team who are willing to help!!

Parent Volunteers

By now you realize your child’s league needs your help. There is no substitute for the satisfaction of contributing to community, especially knowing that your contribution is critical to the league’s operation and your children’s ability to benefit from it, along with their friends and their friends’ parents (who are probably your friends!).

Parents can play many roles in sport: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents at socializing sports.

Reminder to ALL parents

You may be raising a D-1 athlete.  But odds are you aren’t. Odds are, you are raising a great kid who loves to play baseball and enjoy the company of their peers. Most players learn to love baseball in Little League first.

Benefits of volunteering include:

Setting an example for your children. If you want your children to grow into contributing members of their communities, they need to see you setting the example. They are much more likely to listen when you talk the talk if they also see you walk the walk.

Setting an example for other parents. Somebody has to be the first to volunteer. Why not you? Why not exert the leadership that comes with being first to raise your hand and jump in? Others are sure to follow, whether because they were just shy about being the first to volunteer, or from wanting to be part of the fun, or not wanting to be seen as unwilling to contribute. Sometimes it takes just that first hand to go up before the league is thriving with volunteers who make it the best place for kids it can possibly be.

Parents and athletes need to manage their SportsEngine accounts to ensure they get the most out of their Arroyo Grande Valley Little League experience during each sporting season. With their accounts properly configured, athletes and their families will receive communications according to their preferences and be able to complete registrations more efficiently.  SportsEngine has created a Team Management Guide for Parents and Athletes that will help our members with frequently asked questions about our website and mobile app.
