2024 Coaching Requirements

Interested in coaching Little League? We are glad you are here! For a successful season, we need enough coaches for all our teams. 

Per District 65, this is training MANDATORY for every coach, assistant coach, and ANYONE interacting directly with players to complete before the coaches clinic on Feb. 24.

STEP 1:  

Please take a moment to fill out this Volunteer Interest Google form.

STEP 2: 

 Complete and pass a background check every season.

STEP 3 (NEW): 

Livescan fingerprints scan (CA state law). This is a one-time requirement. The league will cover the $35 fee for the Livescan. Even if you've done it for school or another sport, you'll need to do it for AGVLL.

Coaches will not be allowed to hold practices until they have passed an annual background check and completed the Livescan requirement.

STEP 4 (NEW):

Register and complete USA Baseball online training course for Abuse Awareness and Prevention.

  • Go to www.usabdevelops.com 
  • Click "Register" and create an account
  • Select "Courses"
  • Select "Abuse Awareness for Adults Course"
  • Go through all course material and take the Quiz at the end
  • A Certification of Completion will be emailed to you. Please forward that certificate to agvllvolunteers@gmail.com

STEP 5 (NEW):

CDC Heads Up Concussion Training.

  • Go to www.train.org/cdctrain/login 
  • Create an account 
  • Click on "Courses"
  • Search and select 
    "HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training for Coaches"
  • Enroll and complete course and quiz
  • Download your Certificate of Completion and email it to: agvllvolunteers@gmail.com

Attend a Mandatory

Focused on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field, the Little League® Diamond Leader Training Program is a FREE educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources.
