It’s an important decision! There’s a lot to consider, and we want your player(s) to get the most out of their season. AGVLL coaches, together with parents and players, will help determine where your player will have the best experience.

There’s no harm in coming to both Majors and Intermediate assessments, plus it’s more pre-season practice! We’ve put together some info to help understand the differences between these 2 divisions.The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. This is a step up from 46-foot pitching length and 60-foot basepaths in Majors. This is a great transition for players between the standard Little League field size and the full-sized field they will play on in high school or beyond (60-foot 6 inches pitching length. and 90-foot basebaths).For both Intermediate and Majors divisions, players are drafted to teams by coaches and approved by our Board. It is our intention to create balanced, competitive teams. Placing kids on teams with friends is NOT beneficial to this process and these "friend requests" are NOT granted at this level.Intermediate games are played on Don Roberts field instead of Santos. Some inter-league games will be played off-site (Santa Maria, Los Osos usually).The Intermediate division offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths). Players must be league-age 11-13 to play Intermediate. Ages 10-12 for Majors. For an 11-year to play Intermediate, they need to have an advanced skill level.

Postseason tournament opportunities are available for both divisions (All-Stars), including the Little League World Series which features teams from around the world televised on ESPN! This requires we have enough players and coaches. Note: It is possible for a player to play the regular season in the Intermediate division and then be placed on a Majors Division All-Star team (and vice-versa). It all depends on ages and how many players apply for All-Stars.

Leading off before the pitch is allowed in the Intermediate division. Stealing is allowed at any time. In Majors, you can lead off once the pitch crosses the plate.Balks (illegal pitches) are called in the Intermediate division. YOUR PLAYER IS READY TO PLAY INTERMEDIATE IF:

- They are League Age 11-13 (they are not eligible for Majors if they are 13.)
- They’ve played in Majors for 2+ seasons.
- They are ready to fine-tune their base-running skills and develop their game to the next level of competition.
- They are ready for a slightly larger field 50/70.
- They are ready for faster pitching speeds.
- They have a solid or advanced understanding of the game of baseball.
